Named after the 18th Century Swedish biologist and polymath Carl Linnaeus, Carl Linne was designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and built in aluminum by Holland Jachtbouw to Lloyds class with delivery in 2003 and a refit in 2011. She is a modern interpretation of the fast and seaworthy Bristol Channel Pilot Cutters. Like her forbears, her powerful sail plan is easy to handle with a minimum of crew, and her plumb bow and broad counter stern give her a strong, workmanlike appearance.

Inspired by the resurgence of classic J-class racing yachts, the Carl Linne embodies the shape and outline of the classic fast and seaworthy Bristol pilot cutters, albeit only externally. To enhance performance and accessibility in shallow bays, she features a highly effective lifting keel. Named after the eminent 18th-century biologist Carl Linnaeus, who participated in many ocean voyages, including those of James Cook, this superyacht embarked on a long voyage around the world shortly after her launch. Remarkably, despite her classic design and considerable size, all maneuvers and sailing operations can be performed by just two people.

Carl Linne‘s main cockpit is both a sensible working space and a comfortable al fresco dining venue. In addition, she is speedy, having turned in an excellent performance at the 2013 Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous.

The yacht’s general design work came from Dijkstra & Partners. The technical naval architecture intellectual property is the product of Dijkstra & Partners. Sailing Yacht CARL LINNE received her stylish interior design from the interior design office of Dijkstra & Partners. the Netherlands is the country where Hjb (Holland Jachtbouw) constructed their newly built sailing yacht. After the formal launch in 2003 in Zaandam she was delivered on to the proud new owner having completed sea trials and testing. Her hull was built out of aluminum.
