Selecting the right anchor: Choose an anchor that is appropriate for your boat’s size and the conditions of the anchorage. Common types of anchors include Danforth, plow, and claw anchors. While cruising the Chesapeake Bay with all its rivers and hideaways and the occasional grounding, sorties into the Atlantic as far as Bermuda, my main anchor was the CQR  with the DANFORTH. Check Weather and Conditions: Before anchoring, check weather forecasts and tide tables to ensure the anchorage is suitable for your vessel. Be aware of any expected changes in wind or tide.
